Alamo Area Resource Center (AARC) provides short term rental, mortgage and utility assistance (STRMU), tenant-based rental assistance (TBRA), and housing case management for people living with HIV. AARC’s housing staff provides supportive services to enable clients to live independently and strengthen life skills.

Do I have to have income to get rental assistance?
No, as long as you are an established client with AARC and have a current lease you may be eligible.
Can I be working or have income and receive rental assistance?
Yes, you can.
Is rental assistance Permanent help?
Rental assistance is a transitional assistance program to gain self sufficiency.
How long does it take to get assistance?
Assistance can take up to 5 days if all eligibility documents are submitted this includes:
- Agency Intake Documents
- Current lease
- W-9
- Violence Against Women Act- VAWA ( if applicable)
- Supporting documents showing emergency
- Latest lab results
- Income for all those in the household 18 yrs. & older
